A walk a day keeps the doctor away

Two walks in a day is even better. Yesterday I took my dog to two different Anne Arundel County parks for his daily walks. One before breakfast and one after lunch. A hidden and unintended benefit of owning a large dog is that he requires and gets large walks… which means you do too!

Jonas and Anne Catharine Green Park

This park, named after a colonial era, married couple who were publishers in Annapolis, sticks out into the Severn River, adjacent to the Naval Academy Bridge and provides equally colorful sunrises and sunsets. I call it “the little park with big views”. The east side of the park overlooks Chesapeake Bay and the Naval Academy. The western view features the enormous Severn River Bridge and beautiful Manresa, a former Catholic retreat and now retirement community on the water.

Magothy Greenway Natural Area

This property is a park and natural area, with ball fields and marked natural paths through acres of woods. The county has a new program called Hike of the Month Club, which includes a booklet and stamps to keep track of monthly hikes at different locations around the county.
