Today was a beautiful day for a hike – cool and sunny. October and November are some of my favorite months for hiking and biking in Maryland. I drove over to Greenbury Point today with Tucker for an early afternoon walk on my day off.
We started on a typical walk through Poet’s Nature Trail behind the Nature Center and beside Carr Creek, but noticed some changes about half way through. The resource manager and crew had been busy making improvements to the property. There was a wide mulch covered path through the middle, which lead to their shoreline restoration project on Carr Creek.

It looked great and added some nice features to the hike. This is United States Naval Academy land and gets a lot of use from midshipmen, military personnel and their families, retirees, veterans and the local community – and their dogs!
